Spooktacular Events Throughout Northern Nevada to Celebrate

This year, Halloween falls on a Friday, which means even more time for fun parties and trick-or-treating all around Reno and Sparks.

As usual, there are a host of events taking place in Reno and Sparks to celebrate the Halloween weekend. Besides the regular trick-or-treating, there are some really interesting events like progressive dinners, pottery classes, and costume parties to entertain and enjoy.

Reno

The Brew Brothers, inside the Eldorado, presents a Halloween Boo Bash on Friday, October 31 featuring entertainment and a costume contest with prizes. The popular band Steel Breeze plays at 10:30 pm and prizes will be awarded for the Most Original and Scariest Costumes.

Also in the Eldorado, "A Night at the Mansion" inside BuBinga Lounge takes place Friday, October 31 and Saturday November 1 at 10 pm. Tickets are $15 in advance and $20 at the door. Guests in costume receive $5 off the cover at the door, and there will be a $300 cash prize for the best costume. VIP service is available in the lounge. The Safe Street Trick or Treat takes place from 3 pm to 7 pm at The Village at Double Diamond. The shopping center is coming together to offer a trick or treat night for the kids and the adults. Smith's is offering free cookie decorating and pictures for the kids in costumes. Starbucks, Metamorphosis, Kabloom, UPS will be under tents handing out candy to the kids and gift for the adults. The Village is located at 748 South Meadows Parkway.

Bleasdale Vineyards winetasting Friday, Oct. 31, at 5 pm, at the Reserve Wine Bar inside the Grand Sierra Resort. For more information call 800-648-5080.

Trick or Treat Street on the Midway at Circus Circus, starts at 4 pm. This is an ideal event for families. It includes toys, candy, costume contests and door drawings. Free circus acts throughout the evening plus RPD and Circus security officers handing out 2-for-1 midway plays. Call 775-328-9566 or 775-328-9562. Circus Circus is located at 500 North Sierra Street.

Spooktacular Halloween Party at Dragonfly Culinary in Franktown Corners. Kids of all ages can create their own meal by going from station to station preparing and cooking. Play a variety of games and take part in a pumpkin carving contest. Costumes are welcome, but no masks or long, droopy sleeves because they might get in the way of cooking. Starts at 5 pm. Must register by Oct. 24. Call 775-826-3737 for more information. Dragonfly is located at 2305 Kietzke Lane.

Neil Road Harvest Festival begins at 6 pm. A safe and fun environment for kids 2 through 14. There will be 50 cent carnival games, contests, mazes and candy.

Trick or Treat in the Streets at 5 pm in the National Auto Museum. Trick or treating in the streets inside the museum. A "not too scary" haunted house is featured along with pumpkin patch and games. The Museum is located at 10 South Lake Street. Call 775-333-9300 for more information.

Mix and Mingle Trick or Treat for singles at the Back of the House Culinary Adventures

Halloween costume party complete with batty brews and goulish treats. Call 775-284-1080 for details. Back of the House Culinary Adventures is located at 800 West Second Street.

Fantasies in Chocolate, 7:30 pm Saturday, Nov. 1 in the Summit Pavilion inside the Grand Sierra Resort. This is the primary fundraiser for the Reno Gazette-Journal Foundation. The black-tie event features delicious chocolate creations from more than 25 vendors paired with fine wines from more than 30 wineries. Tickets are $65 in advance, $75 day of the event. Sparks

Trick-or-Treat at the Playful Potter, 10 am. Come paint in costume and receive a free studio fee! Just pay for your pieces. Reservations welcome. Call 775-356-5811 for more information. The Playful Potter is located at 1351 East Prater Way.

'80s Prom Night at the Coney Island Bar. A flashback dance party, come in 80s dress. Call 775-358-6485 for information. The Coney Island Bar is located at 2644 Prater Way.
