Over 120,000 couples marry in Las Vegas each year, including celebrities like Elvis, Jane Fonda, Bob Geldof, Bruce Willis and Demi Moore. Here's your wedding planner.

Tarzan was one of the first celebrities to have a Las vegas wedding. Actor Johnny Weissmuller tied the knot in Las Vegas in 1933, and today over 120,000 couples head for the Nevada gambling resort every year in order to get married – plus a few who get wed on the spur of the moment. Numerous Las Vegas wedding chapels and hotels cater for the marriages, and it's possible to get married in places ranging from the Graceland Wedding Chapel (with Elvis impersonator) through to the grandeur of the Grand Canyon, a helicopter ride away.

CELEBRITY LAS VEGAS WEDDINGS

The list of celebrity Las Vegas weddings reads like the Hollywood Walk of Fame: Paul Newman, Frank Sinatra, Joan Collins, Diana Ross, Jon Bon Jovi, Steffi Graf, Brigitte Bardot, Axl Rose, Richard Gere, Melanie Griffith, Clint Eastwood, Angelina Jolie, David Cassidy, Bette Midler, Britney Spears, Noel Gallagher and Zsa Zsa Gabor (but not to each other.)

LAS VEGAS WEDDING CHOICES

There are gay and lesbian Las Vegas wedding venues, and lots of themed Las Vegas wedding options too. Dress up as an Egyptian pharaoh at Viva Las Vegas Weddings, have a Klingon as a wedding witness at the Star Trek Experience or marry in a gold and white gondola at the Venetian Resort. How about the highest chapel in the USA for that Las Vegas wedding, 800ft above the ground in the Stratosphere Hotel? The Chapel in the Clouds offers you a Las Vegas wedding package called The Sky's the Limit.

If you want to have your Las Vegas wedding conducted by himself, head for the Graceland Wedding Chapel, which has been in business over 50 years. Another long-established Las Vegas wedding favorite is The Little White Wedding Chapel, which offers drive-through weddings, while The Little Church of the West is one of the most famous wedding chapels in Las Vegas and is even listed on the National Register of Historic Places.

LAS VEGAS WEDDING LICENCES

Having a Las Vegas wedding is made easy because there is no waiting period and no blood tests are required. All you have to do is apply for a licence ($55, cash only) at the Marriage Bureau of the Clark County Courthouse, which is open till midnight Monday-Thursday and then doesn't close from 8am Friday morning till midnight on Sunday night. Don't forget to take your ID... oh yes, and your beloved.
