National Baby Boomers Festival in Reno, NevadaSilver Legacy Resort Hosts First Annual Event
Baby Boomers, those special adults born between 1946 and 1964 will enjoy their first ever national festival March 27-29.
Baby Boomers have been getting a lot of attention in the press as they reach retirement age, and to celebrate this ageless generation, the Silver Legacy in Reno is hosting the first annual National Baby Boomers Festival http://www.babyboomersfestival.com/ the last weekend in March. Registration is only $49, and it includes a host of events that any Baby Boomer can appreciate and enjoy. Dances for Singles and CouplesEvery night of the festival, guests can enjoy dances for singles and couples in the resort's ballrooms. Dress up and attend the Baby Boomer Ball on Saturday night, or dress in your favorite Baby Boomer outfit for the Baby Boomer Bash on Friday night. Participants can take a dance lesson each night before the dances begin to brush up on dance skills, too. Guest SpeakersDuring the day, participants can choose from several seminars and activities at the resort. Numerous Baby Boomer speakers will lecture on a variety of topics. Speakers include: Chris Abts, the CEO of Reno's Cornerstone Retirement Group, Ann Fry, author of "Sixty, Sexy, Sassy and Free," Rich Gosse, author of "Singles Guide to America," and Beverly Mahone, author of "Whatever! A Baby Boomer's Journey Into Middle Age." Wine WalkThe Wine Walk for Boomers takes place from 3 to 6pm in downtown Reno. Cost of the walk is $20, which includes a glass, and tastings at all participating locations. You can walk the downtown area visiting 30 different shops that will be pouring boutique wines that you can taste as you shop. Organizers recommend warm clothing, and if it's raining or snowing, tasting will take place at Wine Walk headquarters in the Imperial Lounge. Other EventsOn Sunday, brunch with other boomers in the Eldorado's newly-remodeled casino buffet (pay for brunch), and also on Sunday, single boomers can participate in a Speed Dating event from 1 to 3pm. The cost is $20 and organizers recommend dressy night club-style clothing. The organizers also promise plenty of contests and entertainment, too. Around Reno Guests of the festival can tour downtown Reno during their stay, too. Only a few blocks from the Truckee River and the White Water Park, there are cinemas, lounges, shopping, and restaurants all within walking distance of the casino, including the Nevada Art Museum and numerous galleries and antique shops worth exploring. The National Baby Boomer Festival promises to be an affair that will continue for years to come.
