Travel to Las Vegas to see the all-male cast of Thunder From Down Under heat up the stage nightly on the Las Vegas Strip at the Excalibur Hotel.
No Stuffing Bills in Thongs
Thunder From Down Under has managed to move away from the aggressive strip club atmosphere where women stuff dollar bills in to dancers’ thongs and has instead pursued a sexy but fun show that can be enjoyed by a range of women from college students to middle-aged moms to even grandmas. The style of the show makes for a great girls’ night out.
“We try to make it as clean and tasteful as possible,” says Adam Hughes, one of the dancers. “It’s not just bump and grind and ‘look at me I’m fabulous’. It’s the kind of show you can feel comfortable bringing your daughter or your mother to.” But he also adds, “Of course as guys, we can’t stop girls from slapping us on the butt.”
75 Minutes of Studliness
The show is a 75-minute, fully choreographed stage performance hosted by a Master of Ceremonies. Upon entering the theatre one finds women of all ages waiting in anticipation to see sculpted abs and big biceps. The audience runs the gamut from women just having fun to birthday parties to, of course, the favorite pastime of the “Bachelorette Party.”
Although the audience is generally 90 percent female, couples are welcome to come enjoy the show.
Fantastic Fantasy Costumes
The costumes and dance styles of the musical numbers capture many female fantasies ranging from firemen to naval officers to swashbuckling pirates to cowboys. Performers sometimes bring audience members up to the stage for a seductive number or hop from table to table throughout the auditorium to allow for close-up interaction with the audience.
“We get the same reaction from women all over the world,” Hughes says. “It makes for a great girls’ night out.”
Seeing the Show
Thunder From Down Under runs nightly at 9 p.m. at the Excalibur Hotel on the Las Vegas Strip, with 11 p.m. shows added on Friday and Saturday nights. Special bachelorette party packages include limousine service, dinner at a Las Vegas restaurant and admission to a night club after the show.
