Top Burgers in RenoWhere to Find the Best Hamburgers in Reno and SparksJul 1, 2008 Sherril Steele-Carlin
Just in time for Hot August Nights, find out where to get the hottest burgers and the coolest shakes in town.
Reno's not just about cheap buffets any more. In fact, you can find top chef dining, combined with local burger joints that turn out some pretty tasty burger fare. Who's got the best burger in Reno? If you're searching for a great burger, with all the sides, like super fries and shakes, then this is the place to find just what you're looking for. 1. The Little Nugget in Downtown Reno If you've never tried an Awful-Awful from the Little Nugget, well, you just haven't eaten burgers in Reno. The Awful-Awful is a huge, 1/2 pound patty served with an equal amount of homemade fries for an incredible price of $5.50. The Nugget Diner is like a step back in time, complete with a counter, standing room only most of the time and crotchety cooks. The food is worth any lack of ambiance, however. The Diner is open 24 hours, and serves breakfast, too. 233 North Virginia Street, 775-323-0716. 2. Juicy's Giant HamburgersJuicy's is another Reno favorite, and it you don't want to go downtown, but still get a fantastic burger with great fries, try Juicy's. They're consistently voted one of the top burgers in Reno, and they make everything fresh daily, including lots of fresh veggies on every burger, like tomato, onion, and lettuce. Best of all, Juicy's delivers, too. 301 South Wells Avenue, 775-322-2600?. 3. Keystone Cue & CushionIt may seem strange to list a pool parlor as one of the area's top burger spots, but Keystone Cue & Cushion has been creating top-notch burgers for years. Keystone's burgers & fries are made fresh, the burgers are cooked to order, and you can always get in a round of pool while you're waiting for your burger. 935 West 5th Street, 775-323-2828. 4. PJ & CompanyPJ's (to the locals) is another one of those little neighborhood restaurants that you'd probably never find unless you know about it. Their burgers, like most of their fare, are hearty, fresh, and tasty. They use fresh beef from local butcher the Butcher Boy, and they serve them up with fries cooked in canola oil for less fat, if you're into that. 1590 South Wells Avenue, 775-323-6366. 5. Red RobinChains don't usually come out on top in the "best of" reviews, but Red Robin is the exception, simply because they specialize in burgers and they offer so many of them. If you're looking for a decent burger, made of anything from chicken to veggies and beyond, you can find it at Red Robin, and they're kid friendly, too. 4999 Kietzke Lane, 775-825-7246.
